A Nursery for Nora

IMG_4988Let’s just say I have taken a very LONG hiatus from blogging. I’d like to blame it all on this difficult pregnancy, but let’s be honest. I was on hiatus long before baby girl #3 was on her way. That’s right! We are expecting baby girl #3 in a few weeks! I’ve been working for awhile on creating the perfect nursery for our little Nora, and I’m happy to say it is finally finished!! (A big thanks to my Dad and my better half Mike for all your help!)

Here’s the finished product!

This Summer Poppy quilt from Little Unicorn was the jumping off point for the entire room. I saw it and knew it was the perfect inspiration for a little girls nursery that wasn’t my typical “go to” girl colors. In a nutshell I wanted a white shiplap wall behind the crib, check; dark navy walls everywhere else, check; a floral mobile, check; large word art, check; and lots of cute decor items to fill in the blanks, check, check, aaaaaaaaaaand, check!

One day I was browsing Etsy for cute mobiles and I came across a few floral mobiles. I knew that was EXACTLY what I wanted. The only problem was they were pricey! So, I made my friend Melissa go to Hobby Lobby with me (sometimes I need a sounding board when I’m picking things out) and I bought all the supplies I needed for my floral mobile. The total cost was around $40, which was a far cry from the $80-$140 I was finding on Etsy. Although, after making one, I don’t think they were badly priced. It was kind of a huge pain! I’ll explain how to make one another day…

Once I had my inspiration for the entire nursery, I knew I wanted a HUGE piece of word art to go above the crib. I happened to be at a friends house one day and noticed something eerily similar to what I wanted in her home. As it turns out, her sister made it, and her prices were amazing! Being pregnant, and super sick, I was more than happy to let somebody else make something for a change. I quickly contacted her to place an order. I decided to go with the lyrics to “I am a Child of God”, and I think it fits in perfectly!
